Question: What was the context of Sarah’s statement “I laughed” in Genesis 18:13?
She overheard the prophecy, that she would have a child (which it is implicit she did not believe)!
She even had asked her husband to try to produce a child with her servant Hagar; which successfully produced Ishmael; Gen. 21!
The unbelieving mirth of Sarah is well known in the world, and on one occasion in Sweden, the Centre of Stockholm was covered in Tents for a festival; and the female laughter was loud, and the comment was made that is called “Sarah’s tents”!
Eventually; Sarah produced Isaac, who was to continue the Line of promise to Israel!
